Activities Commemorating 100th Anniversary of Birth of Chinese Archaeology Launched in Sanmenxia
The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese archaeology. On April 18, a launching ceremony of activities commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese archaeology, along with a forum on the Yangshao village relics site, was held in Sanmenxia city of Henan province. More than 100 experts and scholars from dozens of archaeological research institutions across China attended the event.

In 1921, the Yangshao village relics site in Mianchi county of Henan province was excavated for the first time, marking the birth of Chinese archaeology, and thereafter the term "Yangshao Culture", China's first-known archaeological culture, came into being in Chinese archaeological history.
