Henan CPPCC Members Arrive in Beijing for Annual Session
On the afternoon of March 3, members of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from Central China's Henan province arrived in Beijing by high-speed rail to attend the Fourth Session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee scheduled for March 4.
2021 marks the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), so it is of great significance to get this year's work done well. The members of the 13th CPPCC National Committee from Henan will pay special attention to the following issues: How to implement the 14th Five-Year Plan, coordinate epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development, further carry out the strategy of ecological protection and high quality development of the Yellow River basin, form a new development pattern, consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation with rural revitalization, ensure and improve people's livelihood, etc. They conducted in-depth research on these issues, widely collected public opinions, and carefully wrote their proposals and presentation materials.
The CPPCC members from Henan come from various sectors including the Communist Party of China, agriculture, economy, education, literature and art, science and technology, etc. They, in compliance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, went to Zhengzhou in advance for nucleic acid testing, and took a bus to the high-speed rail platform together, wearing masks during the whole journey.
On the train, the members exchanged opinions on some hot topics. Liang Liuke, a member who works in Luoyang, has always been concerned about the high-quality development of the Yellow River basin. He will suggest to build a tourism belt for the ancient capitals along the Yellow River, promote the Erlitou Site to be a world cultural heritage site, inherit and carry forward the Yellow River culture to inject new vatility to the development of the Yellow River basin. Wei Shizhong and Shen Kaiju focus on higher education, hoping to keep strengthening support for higher education in Central China by raising the level of funding for each student and cultivating more outstanding graduates to provide talent and intellectual support for high-quality development of Central China.
The train stopped at Beijing West Railway Station at 4:25 p.m. All the members then registered at hotels and devoted themselves to the preparations for the "two sessions".
