Henan Adds 164 Foreign-funded Enterprises in First 3Q
News from Henan Provincial Department of Commerce on November 26 – Facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the declined international investment willingness, Henan has implemented multiple measures to stabilize foreign investment, and thus the foreign businesses' sentiment to invest in Henan has remained steady. In the first three quarters of this year, there were 164 foreign-funded enterprises newly established in Henan with a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent, maintaining growth for four consecutive months. Besides, its foreign investment totaled $14.38 billion during the same period, up 3.4 percent over the same period last year.
According to a source from Henan Provincial Department of Commerce, "Generally speaking, in the first three quarters, the attraction of foreign investment in Henan presented two features: well-known transnational corporations are expanding their investments in Henan; service sector has become a new hotspot for investment." From January to September, 37 foreign-funded enterprises with an investment of more than $10 million were set up in Henan, with a total investment of $7.29 billion, accounting for 97.5 percent of the newly increased foreign investment across the province. General Electric, Coca-Cola, Yihai Kerry, CP Group, China Resources Group and other Fortune 500 companies also expanded their investments in Henan.
It is learned that in the first three quarters, 47 countries and regions around the world made investment in Henan, 30 of which established new enterprises within the province.
