National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou Passes Official Appraisal
Recently, the National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou successfully passed the official appraisal carried out by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and incorporated into the management system for national supercomputing centers, said Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology on November 23. As the 7th national supercomputing center in China (the others are in the cities of Tianjin, Changsha, Shenzhen, Jinan, Guangzhou and Wuxi), it is the first major science and research infrastructure facility at the national level in Henan.

Supercomputing capability is not only a key indicator for a country's core competitiveness in science and technology, but also for its comprehensive national strength. Therefore, the national supercomputing centers in China with supercomputer as the core instrument is not only a national information infrastructure facility of strategic importance, but also a strategic platform for sci & tech innovation. The National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou has been accepted and put into operation, which is of great significance to promoting Henan's scientific and technological innovation, boosting the province's industrial transformation and upgrading, leading and supporting its high-quality economic development.
Equipped with the latest high-performance computers made by Sugon, the host system has been found to be at the forefront of international technology in terms of continuous performance, with a theoretical peak performance of 100Pflops (1Pflops is equal to 1 thousand trillion floating-point operations per second) and a memory capacity of 100PB. In the future, committed to key national strategies and regional economic and social development, the National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou will develop applications in the fields of digital economy, social management, precision medicine, biological breeding, environmental protection, high-end equipment, artificial intelligence, land and resources management, etc.
据了解，该中心配备了技术先进、自主可控的中科曙光新一代高性能计算机，峰值计算能力100Pflops（1Pflops等于每秒一千万亿次的浮点运算），存储容量100PB，主机系统实测持续计算性能居国际同期前列。未来，超算中心将面向国家重大战略需求和区域经济社会发展需要，围绕数字经济、社会管理、精准医学、生物育种、环境治理、高端装备、人工智能、国土资源管理等方面开展一批重点特色应用。（中文来源/河南日报 翻译/赵汉青 审校/张玉红）
