The 21st Chinese medical team to Zambia in the charge of Zhengzhou Health Commission consists of 28 members from 8 local hospitals and medical institutes, namely, Zhengzhou Central Hospital, Zhengzhou No.1, No.2, No.6 and No.7 People’s Hospital, Zhengzhou People’s Hospital, Zhengzhou Children’s Hospital, and Henan University of Chinese Medicine.
So far, Zambia’s 10 provinces have reported confirmed cases. Moreover, some of their fontline medical workers unfortunately became infected due to shortage of protective materials. Thus, the Chinese medial team worked hard to contact Chinese-funded enterprises in Zambia, such as Power Construction Corporation of China and AVIC International Holding Corporation, and donated more than 2 million kwacha (about 0.8 million RMB yuan) of medical supplies to the local hospitals, including 55 thousand of surgical masks, 500 boxes of hand sanitizers as well as N95 masks, medial goggles, protective clothing, etc.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, China’s 21st medical team to Zambia has promptly joined in its epidemic prevention and control efforts to build a strong defense line against the pandemic for local people and the overseas Chinese.
